About Leocata’s Transport
Leocata’s Transport has built a legacy of excellence in the Australian freight and logistics industry, rooted in hard work, determination, and family values. Since its humble beginnings in 1983, this family-owned business has grown from a single truck into a nationwide logistics company with depots across Tatura, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane.
The story of Leocata’s Transport begins in 1952 when Luigi Leocata moved from Italy to Australia and worked as an orchardist in the Goulburn Valley. His son Joe, determined to carve his own path, bought his first truck in 1982 with his wife, Sharon, despite his father’s wishes that he stay in the orcharding industry.
The truck, a Single International T-Line (which Joe still proudly owns), marked the beginning of their transport journey. Joe started hauling fresh fruit from the Goulburn Valley to Griffith, eventually expanding to transport groceries and concrete from Stanhope to Adelaide – a demanding route he travelled for 16 years.
“Back then, all truckies coming out of Shepparton knew each other. If you broke down, someone would always stop to help.” – Joe Leocata
As Joe’s reputation grew, he became the go-to man for transport in the Goulburn Valley. Demand increased, prompting Joe and Sharon to purchase more trucks and hire drivers. This expansion laid the foundation for the Tatura depot and the start of their family-run enterprise.
Joe and Sharon’s sons, Marcus and Adrian, were eager to join the family business. They would jump off the school bus every afternoon to help around the depot. After completing high school, both officially joined the team, learning every aspect of the transport industry.
Joe passed down his expertise in mechanics, scheduling, and customer service, while Sharon managed finance and administration. Over the years, the family worked side by side, growing Leocata’s Transport into a thriving logistics company known for its professionalism, reliability, and personalised service.
Though Joe is now semi-retired, he still spends time at the Tatura site, ensuring things run smoothly and keeping everyone on their toes.
